About
I'm an artist based in Perth, Scotland. Photography is the foundation of my practice and the medium of most of the work you'll find here. In 2026 I began an MFA in Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, University of Dundee.
My recent work explores perception as a way of knowing: what close attention can reveal, and whose ways of seeing are recognised. I often work slowly, returning to the same places in different seasons, light and weather, mostly among the woodland and water around Perth and the River Tay, where a tree can stop being simply a tree and become a tangle of branches and roots.
Questions about perception are leading me to others. Who gets to look, interpret, define or assign meaning? What happens when people, bodies or things meet systems that position, contain or categorise them? I'm increasingly drawn to ideas of space, boundaries, thresholds and containment, and to what it means to take up space on one's own terms. These interests are still emerging, and I'm exploring them through making rather than starting from a fixed position.
Through the MFA I'm beginning to explore how ideas might move between still and moving image, print, writing, sound, installation and sculpture. I want the form to come out of the enquiry, rather than deciding in advance that the result must be a photograph.
