Gorgie Portraits

Edinburgh, 2023

Gorgie Portraits is a series of portraits of people living in Gorgie, Edinburgh, where I lived for ten years.

My connection with the area and its people deepened during the pandemic lockdowns, and I wanted to capture something of the humanity of the community around me. I photographed people I knew alongside some I approached directly.

The series draws on the work of Simon Murphy and Margaret Mitchell, and was made during a short course in digital photography at the University of Edinburgh.
